Wukong Restaurant’s Malatang is a Cocked Hoptop dish that originated in Chongqing, China, it has retained its original flavor and is now available in Nebraska for the first time.
Dazhi is one of the chefs at Wukong Restaurant from Chongqing, China, a municipality located in southwest China with a history of more than 3,000 years and a population of 32 million, making it one of the largest and most populous cities in the world.
Chongqing is also known as the “world’s Hotpot capital”. There are Hotpot restaurants all over the streets and alleys in Chongqing, and Dazhi’s Hotpot restaurant chain is one of them.
The difference between Malatang and Hoptop is that Hoptop is cooked by oneself, while in Malatang restaurant, chefs cook for guests. All Malatang seasonings used by Wukong Restaurant are from Chongqing, where they originally came from. This restaurant is exclusively secret-made in Omaha, with a unique taste, our Spicy soup malatang is spicy and fresh, our Dry-mixed malatang is mellow, and our Hot & sour soup malatang is tasty and refreshing, with an endless Tomato soup malatang aftertaste.
Wukong Restaurant’s signature dish is Malatang. We aim to satisfy various taste preferences to cater to different groups of people.
We also offer Appetizers, Hibachi, and Special drinks.
I really love this place!I discovered it through Omaha Food Lovers and believe it deserves more recognition. We’re quite familiar with Asian cuisine,so we jumped right into their Matalang (cooked hotpot)and chose the spicy soup and hot sour flavors. We added three proteins and three veggies, and both were incredibly flavorful. We also tried the egg rolls, which were just as delicious. The owners were super friendly, and I was surprised to see that no one else was dining here. They truly deserve more credit. The way they prepare the malatang is much quicker and easier than traditional hot pot, which is great when you want to enjoy your meal without the extra work.I noticed online they have a strawberry dessert that’s only served on Saturdays.I couldn’t make it that day,but when I returned on Sunday to place a to-go order, the owner recognized me and offered me some of the strawberry dessert to try, even though it’s not usually available on Sundays-completely free of charge! That’s what I call true hospitality and service. We will definitely be back!A solid 10/10 from me! And don’t forget to try their crab rangoons; they’re fantastic!
As someone from China, malatang holds a special place in my heart-it’s the ultimate comfort food that reminds me of home.I didn’t think it was possible to find a place abroad that could live up to the authentic flavors of malatang, but Wukong Malatang completely proved me wrong! First of all,the ambiance here is amazing clean, welcoming, and truly cozy. The owners re incredibly kind and attentive, making every visit feel like a warm embrace. Now,let’s talk about the food! The spice level?PERFECT.It’s the real deal-just like the authentic, bold heat of Chongqing. Each bite is a burst of flavor that transports me straight back to the bustling streets of China. And the portions?Super generous! You can pile your bowl high and still feel satisfied without breaking the bank. And I can’t forget their oat milk drink! It’s beyond incredible-better than anything I’ve had at any bubble tea shop.Creamy, smooth, and the perfect balance to the spiciness of the malatang.Honestly,it’s in a league of its own and something I look forward to every time I visit. I honestly don’t think any other malatang place could beat this one-it’s that good!If you’re craving authentic, delicious, and heartwarming malatang,Wukong Malatang is the place to go.Highly recommend!
If you don’t go here and order the hot pot dishes,we’ve got beef Spouse says “I don’t know what I want”? They want hotpot. You don’t know what you want?Hot.Pot. Every bad review I saw was either from the restaurant that was at this location before,or someone ordering something that isn’t the hing that takes up 90%of the space on the menu -why would you do that to yourself?
We tried Wukong last night and it was SO G00D. I’m not a super adventurous eater,so I opted for the teriyaki chicken and steak with veggies and it was the perfect choice! The homemade dressing on the side salad was delicious. And the service was outstanding. They were so kind and helpful, especially when asking or guidance on what to order.I highly recommend Wukong and we will be back for sure!
